Types of food packaging materials

Packaging is understood as the packaging where the products are stored and protected, in this way the consumed can access it without problems. In addition, packaging is used to encourage sales.

The packages can be classified according to their materials in the following types:

Glass packing: generally the packages that we see of this material are bottles or bottles. Not only are they very useful for packaging food or drinks, they are also widely used in pharmacies and in the field of cosmetics. Some advantages offered is the low environmental impact because they can be recycled and can be used several times, they are very effective to protect their contents and on the other hand they allow to see into the interior of the container. However you have to be very careful with falls or blows, because in that case it would be shattered. On the other hand they usually take up a lot of space and be heavy.

Metal packaging : the type of metal used will depend on the product to be packed, in the case of drinks, aluminum is usually used, especially if they are soft drinks. Steel is usually used when packing food. In addition, the use of glasses, cutlery or plates of such material is very frequent.
These packings really serve as protectors to the product since they are very resistant. Another advantage is that they can be used many times and can be recycled without any inconvenience. However, they can tend to be very large, heavy. On the other hand, they are usually expensive.

Wood packaging : these are widely used in the transport of long distances of very large and heavy products. They are very resistant and also their content is very protected. However, it is common for this kind of packaging to house different pests, they are not economical and they decompose easily since they are sensitive to humidity and the sun.

Plastic packaging : this does not have a good impact on the environment. They are also very difficult to recycle. However one of the advantages is that most of the time it is possible to use it for several things and several times since they are durable and resistant. Some examples of plastic packaging are boxes, bags, trays, jars, among others. Generally its content is food, oil, cleaning or beauty products. On the other hand it is very important to be cautious because in this packaging the plastic is very flammable.
